Culture Club Tour Canceled Due to Boy George Ailment | Playbill

News Culture Club Tour Canceled Due to Boy George Ailment The previously announced reunion tour of Culture Club has been canceled due to a throat polyp developed by the band's lead singer, Boy George, the New York Times reports.

An operation may be required to treat the polyp, and Boy George's doctor has advised him not to sing.

"We are hoping we can reschedule the concerts or next year," the band said in a statement, "and hopefully George’s problem will be resolved."

Boy George is a Tony nominee for his score of the short-lived musical Taboo, which began performances at The Plymouth Theatre Oct. 28, 2003, and opened Nov. 13. The musical played 16 previews and 100 performances when it closed Feb. 8, 2004. It featured a book by Tony Award nominee Charles Busch.
