News Cumpsty and Sexton Face "Green-Eyed Monster" in "Monday Night Othello" at CSC Off-Broadway's Classic Stage Company launches its "Monday Night Othello" series Jan. 19 with Michael Cumpsty and director Michael Sexton exploring a chunk of the Shakespeare classic about jealousy and betrayal.

The series has acclaimed actors and directors play with a different act of the Shakespeare play on four Monday evenings. The Jan. 19 presentation is at 8 PM. Billed as an "open rehearsal series," this fifth season also includes Michael Potts and Alan Cumming, directed by CSC artistic director Brian Kulick (8 PM Jan. 26); John Turturro and Alan Cumming, directed by Kulick (8 PM Feb. 2); and a cast to be announced, directed by former CSC artistic director Barry Edelstein (8 PM Feb. 9).

According to CSC, "Audiences will have the opportunity to become part of the creative process as they experience different Othellos and Iagos through varying interpretations and actor and directorial choices."

Classic Stage Company is located at 136 East 13th Street.

"Monday Night Othello" is presented in association with the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation and The Shakespeare Society.

CSC's new production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Denis O'Hare and Peter Sarsgaard, directed by Austin Pendleton, began Jan. 17. Performances continue to March 8.
