Shiva, which refers to the Jewish period of mourning after a funeral, will be produced by Scott Rudin, whose producing credits include A Raisin in the Sun, Betrayal, Death of a Salesman and The Book of Mormon, among others.
Along with "Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," David's writing credits include "Saturday Night Live" and "Clear History." He recently appeared in Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee."
Showbiz411 reports that David did not plan to star in the play, but Rudin convinced him to.
An official announcement about the production has yet to be made.
