News Cut Songs from Wicked to Be Featured in Schwartz's Reluctant Pilgrim A new musical revue celebrating the "lesser-known songs of Stephen Schwartz" will premiere during the 2nd Annual New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Entitled Reluctant Pilgrim, the musical will play Sept. 25-28 at The Barrow Group Theatre. Jamie McGonnigal will direct a cast that includes Jeremy Benton, Marcie Passley, Christine Rowan, Horace E. Smith III and Craig Wilson. With musical direction by Ray Fellman, the production will include songs cut from such Broadway musicals as Wicked, Pippin and Rags.

Stephen Schwartz, a Dramatists Guild council member, composed the scores for Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, The Magic Show, Rags, The Baker's Wife and Children of Eden. He has also written for several film musicals, including "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "The Prince of Egypt" and the TV musical "Geppetto." His solo CDs of new songs are titled "Reluctant Pilgrim" and "Uncharted Territory." Schwartz is the recipient of three Academy Awards, three Grammy Awards and three Drama Desk Awards. Wicked currently plays Broadway's Gershwin Theatre.
