News Cynthia Nixon Struck With String Fever at EST, Feb. 26 Cynthia Nixon, the Broadway and Off-Broadway vet who's become nationally known through the television series "Sex and the City," will return to the stage in String Fever, a new play at Ensemble Studio Theatre.

The show will run Feb. 26-March 23 under the direction of Mary B. Robinson. Opening is March 3.

String Fever, by Jacquelyn Reingold, concerns a woman struggling with nothing less than single motherhood and unrequited love. Oh, yes—and something called "string theory."

Nixon had been scheduled to act Off-Broadway this season in the Signature Theatre Company's announced revival of Lanford Wilson's Talley's Folly. She had to bow out, however, due to pregnancy. The kid since delivered, Nixon signed on for the EST project. The actress, who has been praised in recent years for a new maturity in her acting, last appeared on Broadway as the injured wife in The Women at the Roundabout Theatre Company. Before that, she won plaudits for The Country Club at The Drama Dept. Past credits include On the Bum, June Moon, As Bees in Honey Drown, Indiscretions, The Heidi Chronicles, The Real Thing and Hurlyburly, as well as Broadway's Fifth of July.

The cast also features Cecilia deWolf, Jim Fyfe, Evan Handler, Tom Mardirosian and David Thornton.

Robinson's most notable credit is, perhaps, directing Jeffrey Hatcher's Three Viewings at Manhattan Theatre Club. She has directed at EST before for the annual one-act marathon. Tickets are $35. EST is at 549 W. 52nd Street. Call (212) 247-4982 for tickets.
