The play, by the author of Man of La Mancha and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, is set in Haiti, and "examines a love triangle involving a wealthy factory owner looking to escape the social strictures of his island country and reinvent himself as a latter-day Gauguin, as well as a young girl of the people and her wealthy mother, who attempts to destroy the relationship through voodoo."
