The season will open on November 10, 2006, with Nabucco, in a new production directed by James Robinson, the artistic director of Opera Colorado. Music director Graeme Jenkins conducts.
A production of Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, imported from New York City Opera, follows in December; Chris Alexander directs. The cast includes Vivica Genaux as Rosina and Richard Croft as Almaviva; Jenkins is the conductor.
Maria Stuarda, in January 2007, stars Ruth Ann Swenson in the title role; Michael Colvin is the Earl of Leicester. Jenkins conducts.
La Rondine, opening January 26, also comes from New York City Opera. A production created by former San Francisco Opera director Lofti Mansouri is directed by Michael Scarola. Stephen Lord, the music director of Opera Theatre of St. Louis, conducts; Ver‹nica Villarroel, who sang Cio-Cio-San in Dallas early this year, returns as Magda.
Lohengrin ends the season in February. Nancy Gustafson is Elsa, Jeanne-Michele Charbonnet is Ortrud, Christopher Ventris is Lohengrin, and Sergei Leiferkis is Duke Godfrey. Jenkins conducts.
