Classic Arts News Danny Hayes, Big-Band Trumpeter, Dies Jazz trumpeter Danny Hayes died Friday, December 10, the web site Jazz Times reports. He was 58.
The cause of death was brain cancer. Hayes had been in the hospital since mid-October.

Hayes played and recorded with the big bands of Buddy Rich, Gerry Mulligan, and Doc Severinsen, as well as with Chuck Israel's National Jazz Ensemble and bassist Reggie Johnson.
