Christopher Ashley (Valhalla) directs on MTC's Stage I at City Center. Performances begin April 1 and opening is set for April 20. Performances play to May 30.

Rubin-Vega will be fresh out of Broadway's Anna in the Tropics, Kate Jennings Grant appeared in Broadway's Proof.

The design team includes Neil Patel (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes), Chris Akerlind (lighting) and Darron West (sound).

Between Us replaces The Rhythm Club on the MTC schedule.

"In Between Us, Carlo and Joel have been friends since their graduate school days," according to production notes. "Now, the years have passed, and together with their wives, Grace and Sharyl, they're buying homes, having kids and growing up. But are they also growing apart? This new work explores the ways we change and the compromises we make as we find our way in the world." Playwright Hortua's work has been read and staged in New York City at Playwrights Horizons, MCC Theatre, the Actor's Studio, Second Stage Theatre Company, Rattlestick Theatre Productions, Rising Phoenix Repertory and the LABrynth Company; in London and abroad at the Royal Court Theatre and the American Theatre Company of Brussels; and regionally at the Geva Theatre in Rochester, the Chicago Dramatists Workshop and the Sundance Institute. He was Playwright-in-Residence at the 2001 Chautauqua Summer Festival. Making It was developed during the 2001 Sundance Theatre Laboratory and produced at South Coast Repertory. His next play has been commissioned by the Mark Taper Forum.

Director Ashley staged Rocky Horror Show (Broadway); The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told (New York Theatre Workshop, Minetta Lane), Mr. Charles, Currently of Palm Beach (EST), Jeffrey, The Naked Truth (WPA), Blown Sideways Through Life (NYTW), Fires in the Mirror (Public), Bunny Bunny (Lortel), Das Barbecu (Minetta Lane) Mondo Drama, As Thousands Cheer; The Country Club (by Douglas Carter Beane) and Rude Entertainment, all at the Drama Dept, as well as the national tour of Seussical The Musical.
