The hour-long memorial, celebrating the life of Rees, will begin at 1 PM. His husband, writer Rick Elice, announced that the memorial will be made possible by help of Thomas Schumacher and Disney Theatrical Productions and asked his friends to "spread the word."

Rees died July 10 at the age of 71. He worked virtually to the last weeks of his life, appearing in the Broadway musical The Visit earlier this season until he was forced to withdrawal due to declining health.

In 1982, Rees won the Tony Award for The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. He was Tony-nominated for his work in Indiscretions and for co-directing Peter and the Starcatcher.
