Frequent LaBute collaborator Jo Bonney (Some Girl(s), Fat Pig) directs the drama, which will officially open Nov. 22 and run through Dec. 12 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. A co-production with the Geffen Playhouse, Break of Noon will arrive in Los Angeles in January 2011.

Duchovny ("Californication," "X-Files") makes his New York stage debut as John Smith, a man who sees the face of God during a gruesome office shooting. He is joined by Amanda Peet (Barefoot in the Park, "Studio Sixty"), Tony Award nominee John Earl Jelks (Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean) and Tracee Chimo (Bachelorette, Circle Mirror Transformation).

"Amidst the chaos and horror of the worst office shooting in American history, John Smith sees the face of God," read MCC notes. "His modern-day revelation creates a maelstrom of disbelief among everyone he knows. A newcomer to faith, John urgently searches for a modern response to the age-old question: at what cost salvation?"

Break of Noon has set design by Neil Petal, lighting design by David Weiner, costume design by Emilio Sosa and sound design by Darron L. West.

LaBute's plays include Reasons to Be Pretty, New Testament, Helter Skelter, Second of Pleasure, The Mercy Seat, The Distance From Here, In a Dark Dark House, Autobahn, bash: latter-day plays, The Shape of Things, and the films "In the Company of Men," "Your Friends and Neighbors," "Nurse Betty," "Possession" and "Wicker Man."
