Vienna's English Theatre (VET) presents the Austrian premiere of David Hare's Skylight, April 29 (previews on April 28 & 29) thru June 6 .
Skylight was part of the repertory of the National Theatre in London for three years and was awarded an Olivier Award in 1996. Subsequent productions have since been seen on Broadway, in Australia, South Africa, Israel, Belgium, Finland and Argentina.
In Skylight, Hare tells the story of a seemingly ended lover's triangle between the teacher Kyra and the married couple Tom and Alice. Years after the relationship between Kyra and Tom has ended, Tom's son Edward comes to pay Kyra a visit to talk about his father and his deceased mother.
David Hare, who has become one of the most successful contemporary British authors, has seen the London's National Theatre produce eleven of his plays. Among his West End hits are The Judas Kiss and Amy's View. Hare's Racing Demon, which premiered at the NT in 1990, will be revived at the Chichester Festival from July 7 to August 1.
In the VET's production of Skylight, Glen Walford directs Karen Westwood (Kyra), Robert Duncan (Tom) and Gerald James (Edward). Skylight previews on April 27 and 28 and has its premiere on April 29. Performance dates are Mon. - Sat. at 7.30 PM. Tickets can be ordered at +43-1-402 12 60.
