Red Bull Theater celebrates the official opening of David Ives' The Metromaniacs at The Duke on 42nd Street April 22. The play is the third in Ives’ series of rediscovered French comedy masterpieces, following The Heir Apparent and The Liar.

Directed by Michael Kahn, The Metromaniacs began performances April 10. The limited engagement is scheduled through May 26.

The cast is made up of Noah Averbach-Katz (The Bachelors), Christian Conn (Desire Under the Elms, The Liar), Adam Green (The Witch of Edmonton, Midsummer Night’s Dream), Peter Kybart (Awake and Sing, The Diary of Anne Frank), Adam LeFevre (Devil's Disciple, Our Country's Good), Amelia Pedlow (The Liar, The Heir Apparent ), and Dina Thomas (Tribes, Clever Little Lies).

The Metromaniacs transports us to springtime in Paris, 1738. Metromania, the poetry craze, is all the rage, and Damis, a young, would-be poet falls for a mysterious poetess from Breton. Scheming servants, mistaken identities, and verse-mania await at every twist and turn.
