News David Kennedy Replaces John Rando as Director of Westport Playhouse's Beyond Therapy Westport Country Playhouse associate artistic director David Kennedy will stage Christopher Durang's Beyond Therapy for the Connecticut theatre company.

Kennedy replaces Tony Award-winning director John Rando, who was previously announced to helm the production. Rando has withdrawn from the project due to scheduling conflicts. Beyond Therapy will run April 26-May 14.

Last season Kennedy staged Donald Margulies' Dinner With Friends at Westport. He previously served as the artistic director of the Dallas Theater Center. He also served as Rando's directorial assistant on the Broadway production of Urinetown. The production earned Rando a Tony Award.

Designing Beyond Therapy are Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Jennifer Caprio (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design) and John Gromada (sound design).

Casting will be announced shortly.

Beyond Therapy is described as "a wicked, and wickedly funny, look at the days and nights of the young and single… After a disastrous first date, Bruce and Prudence seek solace in therapy—despite both their therapists being stark raving mad. And that’s only the beginning of their problems. In Durang’s topsy-turvy world, life is a ceaseless parade of sexual mix-ups, relationship neurosis and a serious lack of impulse control."
