Hollywood Reporter says that Mamet and "Shield" creator/executive producer Shawn Ryan will develop a new drama series for CBS and 20th Century Fox TV. The series, based on Eric Haney's book "Inside Delta Force: The Story of America's Elite Counterterrorist Unit," concerns the lives of members of an anti-terrorism unit. CBS has committed to the pilot. Mamet will write the script for the pilot episode, and he and Ryan will be the executive producers. Author Haney will also be involved with the project as a consultant. Ryan told the industry paper, "This project will deal in a very realistic way with the people on the ground who are in charge of keeping us safe in a very dangerous age. But it will also deal with the dramas they face at home with their wives and girlfriends and with the commanders who give them orders. This is about the men who take the orders and do the dirty work and the baggage that they carry from doing that kind of work."

Ryan also added, "There's a real veracity that Eric brought to his book that we hope to bring to the screen. We want to show people who these men are. After reading this book, David and I both felt very comforted by the fact that these kinds of people are out there."

David Mamet is the author of Glengarry Glen Ross, American Buffalo, The Water Engine/Mr. Happiness, Speed-the-Plow and The Old Neighborhood. He is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Glengarry Glen Ross. He was also Tony-nominated for both Glengarry Glen Ross and Speed-the Plow.
