Glengarry Glen Ross began previews Oct. 19. Upon closing, the drama, which was the first production of the current season to recoup its initial investment, will have played 92 performances.

Directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof, The Merchant of Venice, The Columnist), this limited run marked the 30th year anniversary of the play, which Mamet wrote in 1982. The cast is headed by Oscar winner Al Pacino with John C. McGinley, David Harbour, Richard Schiff, Jeremy Shamos, Bobby Cannavale and Murphy Guyer.

Here's how the modern classic is billed: "The stakes are high at a fly by night Chicago real estate office: 1st prize — a new Cadillac, 2nd prize — a set of steak knives, 3rd prize — you're fired!," according to production notes. "Glengarry Glen Ross slices to the core of the American dream and exposes the depths people will go to stay on top of the game. Mamet himself worked in a real estate office in Chicago in 1969 setting up appointments for salesmen, and the play is influenced by the cutthroat politics he encountered."

The play won the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Read the fall Playbill magazine feature about Bobby Cannavale, who plays seductive Ricky Roma in the dark comedy.

Two-time Tony winner Pacino, who plays Shelly Levene, won his Tonys for The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel and Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? (to say nothing of his Oscar for "Scent of a Woman"); McGinley, playing Dave Moss, starred in TV's "Scrubs"; Harbour, playing John Williamson, is a Tony Award nominee for the 2005 revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and appeared with Pacino in The Merchant of Venice (he's also a recurring character on TV's "The Newsroom"); Schiff, who won an Emmy Award for playing Toby Zeigler on the hit TV series "The West Wing," makes his Broadway debut playing George Aaronow; Shamos, a 2012 Tony nominee for Clybourne Park, plays James Lingk; Tony and Emmy nominee Cannavale (The Motherf**ker With the Hat, Mauritius, "Nurse Jackie") plays Richard "Ricky" Roma; and Guyer, who has been seen on Broadway in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, South Pacific, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial and The Graduate, is detective Baylen.

Pacino starred in a film version of Glengarry. He earned an Academy Award nomination for playing the fierce Roma. The drama has had two earlier lives on Broadway (in 1984 and 2005).

The drama known for its rapid-fire dialogue and profane language was first produced on Broadway in 1984 under the direction of Gregory Mosher following London and Chicago runs. The drama was later adapted by Mamet for the 1992 film starring Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alan Arkin, Ed Harris and Kevin Spacey. (Pacino won his Best Actor Oscar in 1993, for "Scent of a Woman," in the same year he was nominated for the "Glengarry" film supporting role.)
