Mamet's racially charged play about two high-power attorneys faced with a case that is more than it seems premiered on Broadway in 2009 under the playwright's direction. Timothy Near helms the four-actor play for the Rep. It will run through March 4.

Actor-playwright Talbott, whose own race-based dramatic comedy The Submission premiered Off-Broadway this season, also appeared in the regional premiere of Frost/Nixon (as Frost) at St. Louis Rep, where he was also featured in Twelve Angry Men and A Christmas Story. He plays litigator Jack Lawson (the role created by James Spader). Omari (Trust, Knock Me a Kiss) portrays fellow litigator Henry Brown, with Wilson (In Paradise, Cymbeline) as their prospective client and Martinson (Shakespeare in the Park's Measure for Measure and All's Well That Ends Well) as Susan, a young lawyer.

Here's how the Rep bills Race: "Shame, guilt, class, lies and sex all explode to the surface in Pulitzer Prize-winner David Mamet’s newest play where cases — and people — are never just black and white. When high-profile attorneys Jack Lawson and Henry Brown find themselves defending a privileged white executive accused of raping a young black woman, facts quickly become secondary to underlying agendas. Along with their new paralegal, Susan, the two men review the facts of the case and begin finding out more than they bargained for, both about the job and themselves. Race poses blunt questions with provocative language that will leave everyone talking long after the lights go down."

Race has set design by John Ezell, costume design by Myrna Colley-Lee, lighting design by Brian Sidney Bembridge and sound design by Rusty Wandall.

Mamet's plays also include Glengarry Glen Ross (1984 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics Circle Award, 2005 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play), American Buffalo, Boston Marriage, November, Speed-the-Plow and The Cryptogram. He has penned the screenplays for such films as "The Verdict," "The Untouchables," "Wag the Dog" and his own adaptation of "Oleanna." He has twice been nominated for an Academy Award. He has written and directed ten films including "Homicide," "The Spanish Prisoner," "State and Main," "House of Games," "Spartan" and "Redbelt."
