David Marguiles is the star of the Off-Broadway play Bashevis: Tales of I.B. Singer, which began previews on Nov. 11 at the Douglas Fairbanks Theatre with an official opening slated for Dec. 9. The play, based on short stories by the Nobel Prize-winning author, will be presented three times each week -- Tuesdays at 8 PM and Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 PM (while performances of When Pigs Fly continue at the same theatre).
The three Singer stories that have been adapted for this production are "Quotation from Klopstock," "The Yearning Heifer" and "A Wedding in Brownsville."
Marguiles appeared on Broadway as Roy Cohn in Angels in America; he was also featured in Conversations with My Father, Cafe Crown and Brighton Beach Memoirs.
