News Davis Gaines Will Star in Musical Theatre West's Monty Python's Spamalot Davis Gaines, who performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera more than 2,000 times during his runs on Broadway, in Los Angeles and in San Francisco, will star in Musical Theatre West's upcoming production of Monty Python's Spamalot.

Gaines will play the role of King Arthur in the production, which is scheduled for June 29-July 15 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

The upcoming staging will utilize the original Broadway sets and costumes. Additional casting will be announced at a later time.

The musical will be directed by MTW artistic director Steven Glaudini, with musical direction by John Glaudini and choreography by Billy Sprague.

Monty Python's Spamalot features a book by Eric Idle, based on the screenplay of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, with music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Idle and John Du Prez.
