Davison Replaces Dreyfuss in LATW's The Physicists

News   Davison Replaces Dreyfuss in LATW's The Physicists

Oscar nominee Bruce Davison and Hector Elizondo will star in Friedrich Durrenmatt's The Physicists for Los Angeles Theatre Works in July.

Brendon Fox directs the production that runs July 8-12. (Davison, whose credits include "Longtime Companion," "Knight Rider," "Runaway Jury," replaces Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss, who was originally announced to co-star in the work.)

As with all LATW productions, The Physicists will be recorded and broadcast on L.A.T.W.'s nationally syndicated radio theatre series, "The Play's the Thing."

The cast also features the previously announced Elizondo ("Monk," "Caine"), Amy Pietz, Roma Maffia, Melinda Page Hamilton, Matthew Patrick Davis and Matt Gaydos.

Press notes for the work read: "The world's greatest physicist, Johann Wilhelm Mobius, is in a madhouse, haunted by recurring visions of King Solomon. He is kept company by two other equally deluded scientists: one who thinks he is Einstein, another who believes he is Newton. It soon becomes evident, however, that these three are not as harmlessly lunatic as they appear. Are they, in fact, really mad? Or are they playing some murderous game, with the world as the stake?"

For tickets, priced $20-$48, to any of "The Play's the Thing" productions at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, call the L.A. Theatre Works box office at (310) 827-0889. For more information visit latw.org.
