Classic Arts News Dawn Upshaw, Recovering From Surgery, Cancels Three Performances With Cleveland Orchestra Soprano Dawn Upshaw has canceled three performances with the Cleveland Orchestra due to illness, the Akron Beacon-Journal reports.
The concerts at which she was scheduled to appear, on March 17, 19, and 20, will instead feature cellist Desmond Hoebig performing Henri Dutilleux's Cello Concerto ("Tout un monde lointain. . . ") in his solo debut with the orchestra.

The program also contains Haydn's Symphony No. 82 and Richard Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra.

Upshaw has been recovering from surgery that is not related to singing. Her illness and recovery have caused her to cancel recitals over the past few weeks at the Kennedy Center and at Florida State University.
