Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for the world premiere of The Treasurer, a new play by Max Posner debuting at the Off-Broadway theatre this fall. Set to lead the cast are Tony winner Deanna Dunagan (August: Osage County) and Tony nominee Peter Friedman (Ragtime).

With direction by The Band's Visit director David Cromer, the production will begin performances September 6 at the company’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater with an opening night set for September 26.

Rounding out the cast will be Marinda Anderson (Bella: An American Tall Tale) and Pun Bandhu (Wit).

In Posner’s The Treasurer, a mother and her son are forced to rethink their relationship (and their past) when he assumes the unwanted position of managing her finances—which are fast dwindling along with her happiness and her senses.

“In this darkly funny, sharply intimate portrait, Max Posner chronicles the strained ties between a son and his aging mother, and the hell of a guilty conscience,“ read production notes from Playwrights Horizons.

The production will feature scenic design by Lortel Award winner Laura Jellinek, costume design by David Hyman, lighting design by Tony Award winner Bradley King, sound design by two-time Lortel Award winner Mikhail Fiksel, and projection design by Lucy Mackinnon. Production stage manager is Brett Anders.

Tickets can be purchased online via PHNYC.org, or by phone at (212) 279-4200.
