Dear Evan Hansen, the new musical with a score by the Tony and Emmy-nominated songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight, A Christmas Story), and a book by Obie Award winner Steven Levenson (Masters of Sex), has released a new block of tickets through November 19, 2017.
The production officially opened on Broadway December 4 at the Music Box Theatre.
Pitch Perfect's Ben Platt plays Evan Hansen, a young man struggling for identity amid the chaos of high school. Platt is joined by Laura Dreyfuss, Rachel Bay Jones, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Mike Faist, Michael Park, Will Roland, and Kristolyn Lloyd.
It has choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home) and direction by three-time Tony nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal, If/Then).
Here’s how production notes outline the story: “A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in. Both deeply personal and profoundly contemporary, Dear Evan Hansen is a new American musical about life and the way we live it.”
Dear Evan Hansen features scenic design by David Korins, projection design by Peter Nigrini, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, costume design by Emily Rebholz, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg. Music supervision, orchestrations, and additional arrangement are by Alex Lacamoire. The musical director is Ben Cohn. Vocal arrangements and additional arrangements are by Justin Paul. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting. Adrienne Campbell-Holt serves as associate director. Judith Schoenfeld serves as production stage manager, with Michael McGoff as stage manager. Jayne Hong and Rachel Weinstein are associate producers. 101 Productions serves as executive producer.
