News Deep in the Heart of Texas, Millie Tour Gets a New Leading Lady April 12 In its waning days on the road, the national tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie welcomes Laura Schutter as the new Millie April 12 in Austin, Texas.

The long and winding Equity tour — directed by Michael Mayer, and boasting the songs of Jeanine Tesori and Dick Scanlan (plus interpolations that were part of the Broadway experience) — ends May 8 in Tempe, AZ, after spring stops in Austin, Salt Lake City and Tucson.

Schutter replaces Darcie Roberts, who left the show April 10 due to pregnancy.

A non-Equity national tour is being created by Troika for the future.

Laura Schutter's Broadway credits include Kiss Me, Kate and The Scarlet Pimpernel . In the tour, she's played the part of Millie more than 20 times. Schutter toured in Parade, Kiss Me, Kate and The Scarlet Pimpernel , and appeared in Show Boat on London's West End, The Spitfire Grill (Human Race Theatre), Spring Awakening (O'Malley Theatre), They All Laughed (Goodspeed Opera House) and elsewhere.

The Millie touring company also includes Bryan McElroy (Jimmy), Pamela Hamill (Meers), Anne Warren (Miss Dorothy), Richard Feng Zhu (Ching Ho), Emir Yonzon (Bun Foo), John Ganun (Trevor Graydon), Stephanie Pope (Muzzy) and Robyn Payne (Miss Flannery). Austin performances play at Bass Performing Arts Center April 12-17. For information, call (512) 477-6060 or visit www.modernmillietour.com.
