Rob Urbinati directs the work to be presented at The Culture Project's 45 Bleecker Street space for a June 16 opening. Border/Clash blends slam poetry, autobiographical story-telling and political commentary as Chin paints the journey from her Jamaican childhood through the discovery of her sexual identity and political voice to New York. The work was developed last summer at the fourth annual "Women Center Stage" festival.

The part-Chinese, part-black Chin is an award-winning slam poet who has appeared on HBO's "Def Poetry Jam," its subsequent Tony Award-winning Broadway incarnation and national tour. She has also penned and performed her previous solo works — Unspeakable Things and Hands Afire — at The Culture Project.

Garin Marschall (Off-Off-Broadway's Jabu and The Internationalist) provides the staging its set and lighting design.

Director Urbinati has previously directed Maria Irene Fornes' Springtime, Anton Chekhov's Swansong and the Women Center Stage presentation of Chin's Border/Clash at The Culture Project. He also directed the 2003 FringeNYC musical Lost by composer Jessica Grace Wing and lyricist-librettist Kirk Wood Bromley.

Tickets to Border/Clash at The Culture Project, 45 Bleecker Street (at Lafayette Street.) are available by calling (212) 307-4100. For more information, visit http://www.45bleecker.com.
