PlayBlog Dench Takes "Cranford" to the Dentist Veteran stage actress Judi Dench didn't have time to get out of costume when she damaged a tooth last week while filming the holiday installment of "Cranford" for BBC.

BBC News reports that Dench arrived at her London dentist in full "Cranford" costume after damaging one of her crowns on set. "I went into the waiting room and everyone kept looking at me," she told the BBC. "When I got in to see the dentist, he said: 'Are you busy working at the moment?!' — I was wearing a full wig with curls!"

Dench plays the character of Miss Matty Jenkyns in the series based on the novels by Elizabeth Gaskell. "Cranford" centers on "a small Cheshire market town in the early 1840s on the cusp of great change."
