Preston plays waitress Arlene Fowler on the HBO series "True Blood" and will direct her "True Blood" co-star O'Hare (Take Me Out, Assassins) alongside veteran actress Sloane Shelton (The Shadow Box, Dinner at Eight).
Here's how presenters describe Mairs' 70-minute play: "Set in small-town America, Our David follows uneasy neighbors Velma and Clyde. Velma is a widowed grandmother and longtime resident. Clyde recently moved to town from New York City, looking for solitude after losing his lover and most of his friends to AIDS. The two widows quickly learn to distrust one another, and express it in a series of tragic and hilarious alternating monologues. That is until a tacky statue of Michelangelo's David surprisingly brings them together."
Mairs' plays also include Parts Unknown, Bay at the Moon and Nocturne at Twilight.
There is a suggested donation of $20. For tickets visit HMI.org/OurDavid. The Beckett Theatre is located at 410 West 42nd Street.
