The work, which has become the highest-selling production in the Dowling Theater, started Feb. 20 and opened Feb. 25 for a run that extended to April 4. Proceeds from the benefit performance will go towards The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s Monte Cristo Cottage — the playwright's childhood home located in New London, Connecticut. The landmark home/ museum is owned and operated by the O’Neill Center.

Catherine Baker Steindler directs the Tony Award winner Dennehy in the O'Neill O'Casey double bill at the Providence, Rhode Island venue. The cast also includes Joe Grifasi (who plays opposite Dennehy in Hughie) as well as Cynthia Strickland, William Damkoehler and Ginger Eckert.

The design team for Hughie/ A Pound on Demand features Eugene Lee (set), Edward Pierce (lights), William Lane (costume) and Richard Woodbury (sound).

Dennehy visited the Monte Cristo Cottage in preparation for his 2003 Tony Award winning performance in another O'Neill play, Long Day's Journey Into Night. His other Broadway appearances include Translations and another Tony-winning turn in Death of a Salesman. He also recently played the title role in Trumbo Off-Broadway.
