Denver’s award-winning Curious Theatre Company has announced the lineup of plays that will be featured in its 20th anniversary season. Founded in 1997, the regional company aims to “bring gutsy, diverse, challenging, adventurous work that opens eyes and reflects our world.”
Four regional premieres are featured in the season, which includes Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Appropriate (August 31–October 14); The Body of An American by Dan O’Brien (November 2–December 9); Dominique Morriseau’s Detroit ’67 (January 11–February 24, 2018); and Tony Kushner’s The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism & Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures (March 15–April 14).
Also planned is the world premiere of Meridith Friedman’s Your Best One, running May 3–June 16. Here’s how it’s billed: “When cancer comes into the picture, everything changes. The Hoffman family rallies together – and against each other – as they battle over health insurance, child custody, inheritance, and superfoods. Former couple Richard and David tentatively dance around each other as they each navigate if second chances are ever really possible.”
