Denzel, who is reported to reunite with Fences director and producer, Kenny Leon and Scott Rudin, respectively, for a Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun, said, "We start previews in March."
As previously reported, the actor would play Walter Lee Younger in the classic Lorraine Hansberry drama, which was last seen on Broadway in 2004 starring Sean Combs.
"I'm trying to keep up with my wife [Pauletta Pearson]," he added. "My wife has been doing a lot more theatre than me."
Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose (Caroline, Or Change) and Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo ("Hotel Rwanda") are rumored to co-star in the project, which will feature direction by Tony nominee Leon (Stick Fly, The Mountaintop, Fences).
Washington has also been seen on Broadway in Julius Caesar and Checkmates. No official announcement about a Raisin in the Sun revival has been made.
