News Derek Keeling, Ciaran McCarthy, Mary Jo Catlett Set for Musical Theatre West's Wedding Singer Musical Theatre West of Long Beach, CA, will present The Wedding Singer beginning July 8, prior to an official opening July 9, at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

The production, which will continue through July 24, will be directed by Larry Raben and will star Ciarán McCarthy (The Wedding Singer national tour) as Robbie Hart, Renée Brna (Coram Boy) as Julia, Derek Keeling (Grease) as Glenn, Jenna Coker-Jones (Off-Broadway's Evil Dead, The Musical) as Holly, Kelli Provart (Aida) as Linda, Nick Bernardi as Sammy, Matthew J. Vargo (A Christmas Carol, Cats) as George, and Mary Jo Catlett ("Diff'rent Strokes"; Hello, Dolly!; The Pajama Game) as Rosie.

Members of the ensemble include Tomasina Abate, Ashley Allen, Jasmine Ejan, Emily Goglia, Todrick D. Hall, Nicola Harrington, Tracy Lore, Mark C. Reis, Ben Sidell, Daniel Smith, Neil Starkenberg, Katherine Washington, Timothy Wilson and Kevin Wood.

Based on the 1998 film of the same name, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, the musical version of The Wedding Singer has a book by Tim Herlihy and Chad Beguelin, with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Beguelin.

The Wedding Singer, according to press notes, "is set in 1985 and follows Robbie Hart, New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer who is engaged to platinum blonde, leather-clad Linda. Trouble begins when Linda stands Robbie up at the altar on his own wedding day. Bitter and broken, Robbie begins to make every wedding as disastrous as his own, until a warm-hearted waitress named Julia intervenes. Robbie starts to fall for Julia, only trouble is, Julia is about to be married! Can Robbie pull off the performance of the decade and win the girl of his dreams? Please, was Madonna the original material girl?"

Members of the creative team also include musical director David Lamoureux and choreographer Spencer Liff. Other productions set for Musical Theatre West's 2011-12 season include Hairspray, Winter Wonderettes, Man of La Mancha and Forbidden Broadway: Greatest Hits, Volume Two.
