Dina Merrill (On Your Toes, Angel Street, The Mermaids Singing) is Irving's special guest. Show time is 8:30 PM. The evening, according to press notes, "promises a treasure trove of theatre songs, pretty ballads and reminiscences, discreet and otherwise. . . . Do come to see and hear this lively relic of days gone by; days vividly etched in his memory that, in his lucid moments, he is happy to share with you."
George S. Irving made his Broadway debut in the chorus of Oklahoma! and won a Tony Award for his performance in Irene. His other Broadway credits include Along Fifth Avenue, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Two's Company, Can-Can, Bells Are Ringing, Call Me Mister, An Evening With Richard Nixon and... (Drama Desk Award), I Remember Mama, The Pirates of Penzance and Me and My Girl (Tony nomination).
The York Theatre Company will honor Irving with the 17th Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre on Dec. 8.
