To accommodate the busy schedules of director Jack O'Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, the tour will start in July 2006 in a city to be named, rather than in September 2006. In 2006-07, O'Brien has Lincoln Center Theater's production of Tom Stoppard's The Coast of Utopia in his sights, and Mitchell will direct and choreograph Legally Blonde, a new musical.
Bell said there a couple of cities to choose from for the launch and the 2006-07 route is being mapped out. No cast has been announced for the tour of the musical comedy.
A cast album was released commercially May 10 on the Ghostlight Records label.
