News Disney's "Lion King" Will Return to Theatres in 3-D The Disney animated musical, "The Lion King," will return to movie theatres in 3-D for a two-week engagement beginning Sept. 16, according to Deadline.com.

The Oscar-winning film is following in the footsteps of other classics such as "Titanic," which is coming back to theatres in 3-D April 6, 2012.

Disney will also release the movie on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3-D Oct. 4.

"The Lion King," Disney's 1994 animated feature film, includes music by Elton John and Tim Rice and features the voices of stage actors Matthew Broderick (Adult Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Nathan Lane (Timon), Ernie Sabella (Pumba), Jeremy Irons (Scar), Robert Guillaume (Rafiki) and Whoopi Goldberg (Shenzi).

The animated film was the source material for the hit, Tony-winning musical, which continues on Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre.
