A source close to the project told Deadline.com that Fey is in talks with Disney to produce and star in a film that is described as being in the vein of "Ghostbusters."
Fans were abuzz in recent days when news spread that Fey was working on a sequel to "Hocus Pocus." The beloved film starred Midler, Parker and Najimy as The Sanderson Sisters, who come back to run "amok" centuries after being hanged as part of the Salem Witch Trials. Midler sang "I Put a Spell on You" in the film that was directed by Kenny Ortega.
Theatre fans have long-wished for a stage musical adaptation of "Hocus Pocus." Last fall Playbill.com dream cast our picks for who would play the Sanderson Sisters. Check it out.
Fey's untitled "Witch Project" will be co-produced by Allison Shearmur, who is currently working with Disney on the live-action "Cinderella" film with Kenneth Branagh.
