Be sure to catch "Leonard Bernstein's New York" this Thursday evening, June 12, on PBS (WNET 13 in New York; check local listings for times elsewhere). Donna Murphy, Dawn Upshaw, Audra McDonald, Judy Blazer, Richard Muenz and Mandy Patinkin will star in the hour-long program based on the recent CD of the same name. Celebrating the music of the late Leonard Bernstein, "LBNY" airs at 8 PM and features reenactments of scenes from three Bernstein musicals:On the Town, Wonderful Town and West Side Story as well as snippets of the recording session of the CD. Fourteen Bernstein compositions will be spotlighted--including "New York, New York," "Come Up to My Place," "Lonely Town," "Some Other Time" and "Ain't Got No Tears Left"--in the production that also includes interviews with the artists, theatre critics and historians.
