1776 was revived in 2016 by New York City Center as part of its Encores! series. The concert staging was directed by Garry Hynes and also featured a diverse cast of actors.

With Hamilton playing just a few blocks away, New York will have two Thomas Jeffersons on its stages simultaneously over the patriotic holiday.
