Diverse City Theater to Present Snapshots of Women

News   Diverse City Theater to Present Snapshots of Women Diverse City Theater Company will present Snapshots Aug. 16-Sept. 1 at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre.

Directed by Gregory Simmons, the three one-act plays concern women in their fifties, seventies and nineties. Titles include Colleen Ireland, The "A" Word and The End of Civilization As We Know It.

Stuart Harris penned Colleen Ireland, which concerns "a 95-year old woman living in an assisted-living home [who] receives a surprise visit from her great granddaughter. "A mother is confronted by her son about her past" in Linda Faigao-Hall's The "A" Word, and in Lydia Stryk's The End of Civilization As We Know It, "two women, who share a common secret, attend their grandson's wedding."

In a statement Diverse City Theater Company artistic and producing director Victor Lirio said, "We are excited to present these original, extraordinary plays about five women, each from her own generation, grappling with universal issues of aging, identity and family. These are provocative and poignant plays about mature women rarely seen onstage today."

The upcoming production of Snapshots is dedicated to Curt Dempster, the late founder and artistic director of Ensemble Studio Theatre.
