The Ring will conducted by Valery Gergiev, artistic and general director of the Mariinsky Theater. It will be the first ever performed in the Los Angeles area; Domingo's own Los Angeles Opera has delayed its own cycle until 2009.
Domingo is also scheduled to give the world premiere of a song cycle by William Bolcom as part of the five-week celebration.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
