News Dominic Maxwell Appointed New Chief Theatre Critic of The Times in London Further to the previous story posted Sept. 17 about the firing of Libby Purves as chief theatre critic of The Times in London, the newspaper has now announced that she will be succeeded by Dominic Maxwell, her deputy and the paper's theatre editor.

He also currently covers comedy for the paper. He will take up his new post in October.

Purves took over the position in 2010 from Benedict Nightingale, who had occupied the chief critic seat for 20 years.

Maxwell, who has been on the paper's staff for a number of years, previously worked for Time Out London.
