The company will produce its first show outside of the Donmar since Grandage took over, when it performs Guys and Dolls in 2005. This will be the first new London production of the classic Frank Loesser and Abe Burrow musical in over 20 years. That’s greatly due to the impact of Richard Eyre’s National Theatre version, which premiered with Bob Hoskins in 1982 and was revived with equal success in 1997 starring Henry Goodman.

Collaborating with the Donmar on Guys and Dolls is the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG). Although no venue has yet been named, the production will most likely be seen in one of the ATG-owned theatres — among them are the Phoenix (currently home to long-runner Blood Brothers) and the Piccadilly.

Although no casting has been announced, Grandage said in a statement, “It will be an enormous privilege to work on one of the greatest classic musicals of all time, and it presents an exciting opportunity for the Donmar to develop its work and style in a larger theatre space.”
