Running through Nov. 3, Julius Caesar is directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mary Stuart, Mamma Mia!, the film "The Iron Lady").

This production of Julius Caesar was first performed at the Donmar Warehouse November 2012- February 2013.

Most members of the ensemble that performed in the world premiere at the Donmar return for the American premiere. The cast includes Jade Anouka as Calpurnia, Metellus Cimber and Pindarus; Frances Barber as Caesar; Helen Cripps as Cinna the Poet and on drums; Clare Dunne as Portia and Octavius Caesar; Jennifer Joseph as Trebonius; Jenny Jules as Cassius; Cush Jumbo as Mark Antony; Irene Ketikidi as Dardanius, and on guitar; Carrie Rock as the Soothsayer; Harriet Walter as Brutus; and Danielle Ward as Lepidus and Clitus, and on bass.

Joining the production for the run at St. Ann’s Warehouse are Susan Brown as Casca; Meline Danielewicz as Cinna and Volumnius; and Susan Wokoma as Lucius.

"In the hard, grim surroundings of a women’s prison, the all-female actors in this bold Julius Caesar play inmates and guards performing an explosive, arresting production of Shakespeare’s most famous discourse on power, loyalty, and tragic idealism," according to press notes. "While all-male productions of Shakespeare’s plays restaged in contemporary settings are common, in the hands of this cast, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, Shakespeare’s themes are heightened by the backdrop of incarceration, a live thrash metal band, and the emotional nuances inherent in women playing men at their most vulnerable." The creative team includes Bunny Christie (designer), Neil Austin (lighting designer), Tom Gibbons (sound designer), Gary Yershon (composer), Ann Yee (movement director) and Kate Waters (fight director).

Tickets, which are $50–$80, can be purchased online at stannswarehouse.org; by phone at (718) 254-8779; and in person at the St. Ann’s Warehouse Box Office at 29 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
