The show depicts American dairy farmers Frank and Emma. They lead quiet lives until one day a government official knocks at their door, and they discover a strange man hiding in their basement. It had its world premiere at New York's Actor's Studio in 2004, when it featured Randy Quaid, J. Smith Cameron, Frank Wood and Tim Roth. Shepard has called the play "a take-off on Republican fascism." The Donmar's cast includes Ewen Bremner (best known for the film "Trainspotting"), Ben Daniels (who won an Olivier Award for All My Sons at the National Theatre and previously starred at the Donmar in Tales From Hollywood), Stuart McQuarrie (who last acted at the Donmar in 2004's The Dark) and Lesley Sharp, whose National Theatre credits include Mother Courage and Murmuring Judges. Jonathan Fensom will design, with lighting by Jason Taylor and sound by John Leonard. The show is due to run through Dec. 3.

Kathy Burke became famous as an actress, both in comedian Harry Enfield's hugely popular TV shows, and in more serious screen fare such as "Elisabeth" and 1997's "Nil By Mouth" (for which she won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival). Recent years, though, have seen her concentrate more on her work as a director — in which role she has worked on The Quare Fellow at the Tricycle and Blue/Orange at the Sheffield Crucible.
