A spokesperson for the Paper Mill confirmed that English will portray Mrs. Chasen, Harold's mother, in the musical based on the 1972 film that starred Ruth Gordon and Bud Cort. Parsons, as reported, will play septuagenarian Maude in the musical about a 79-year-old widow who has an unlikely romance with the 19-year-old Harold. Featuring book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Joseph Thalken, the world-premiere Paper Mill run — Jan. 5-Feb. 13, 2005 — will be directed by Mark S. Hoebee. Donna English made her Broadway debut in the short-lived play Broadway. Off-Broadway she was seen in Forbidden Broadway Strikes Back!, Taking a Chance on Love and Ruthless, earning a Drama Desk nomination for her performance in the latter. English was part of the national tour of Anything Goes, and her regional credits include On the Twentieth Century, The King and I, Victor Victoria! and A Little Night Music. The actress, who resides in New Jersey, was also seen in the cast of Paper Mill's The Sound of Music.
