The series comprises three films that go behind the scenes of Tony-eligible Broadway musicals. The Tony Awards Showcase also features historic Tony memorabilia, including costumes, posters, video footage and more.
The Tony Award Film Series features the following:
May 9: "Finding Billy"
"A film that takes viewers behind-the-scenes in the search for the young male leads in Billy Elliot the Musical."
Nora Brennan, casting director for Billy Elliot moderated the first in the series; panelists included current and original cast members Tade Biesinger, Jacob Clemente, Stephen Hanna and Joel Hatch.
May 16: "Every Little Step"
"Follows the real-life dancers as they struggle through auditions for the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line. The film also takes a look at the history of the show and the creative minds behind the original and revival Broadway shows."
John Breglio, the executive producer of "Every Little Step," will moderate the discussion with panelists Baayork Lee (original Connie from the 1976 Tony Award-winning production of A Chorus Line and choreographer for the 2006 revival), Donna McKechnie (Tony Award-winning actress for her performance as Cassie in the original 1976 production of A Chorus Line) and Jay Binder (casting director for the 2006 revival of A Chorus Line).
May 23: "Show Business: The Road to Broadway"
"Goes behind the curtain to capture a Broadway season in all of its controversy, passion, and risk."
Moderator Dori Bernstein, writer and director of the film, will lead a panel of actors and creatives who are featured in the film. Each screening will begin at 6:30 PM and will be followed by a panel discussion with the film's producers, Broadway theatre producers and talent.
