She was the "I" in the recent King And I, the singer in Song of Singapore and the suffering protagonist of Passion. Now Donna Murphy, who won best actress in a musical Tonys for King and Passion, takes on a very non-musical role: Mary Todd Lincoln. Unfortunately, it's not in a play or musical but a TV movie, "The Day Lincoln Was Shot." Airing Sunday night, Apr. 12, on Turner Network Television (check local listings), the film also features Lance Henriksen as husband Abraham Lincoln and "Northern Exposure's" Rob Morrow as assassin (and actor!) John Wilkes Booth.

The most recent Off-Broadway treatment of Lincoln came in Hallow'd Ground, which traced the President's early political years up through the Civil War. On Broadway a few seasons ago, Sam Waterston had the lead in a Broadway revival of Abe Lincoln In Illinois, while, even further back, Sam Tsoutsouvas played The Man Who Shot Lincoln Off-Broadway.
