Shaffer, who is best known for her award-winning work as Rae Woodard on the ABC soap "Ryan's Hope," will offer a reading from her new novel, "Serendipity," at 6 PM. The actress-writer will also "talk about [her] transformation from actress to author, and scriptwriter of soap operas." A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow.
Shaffer has been seen on Broadway in The Women, Keep It in the Family and First One Asleep, Whistle.
Her new novel "Serendipity," press notes state, is "the story of a child of theatrical royalty and three generations of Italian American women."
