The Band Wagon — the Fred Astaire musical from 1931, not the Fred Astaire film — arrives at Off-Broadway's Drama Dept. Oct. 20 for a one-night only staging featuring starry musical theatre performers Jason Danieley, 2002 Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James, Jonathan Freeman and Mary Testa.

The 1931 Band Wagon has been regarded by many as the best revue to ever grace Broadway. Kathleen Marshall will direct the musical, which features sketches by Howard Dietz and George S. Kaufman, lyrics by Dietz, and music by Arthur Schwartz. Among the beloved songs are "Dancing in the Dark," "New Sun in the Sky" and "I Love Louisa."

The original Broadway cast also included Adele Astaire, Helen Broderick, Frank Morgan and Tilly Losch.

Completing the Drama Dept. cast are Brooks Ashmanskas, Becky Ann Baker, Peter Bartlett, Sondra Daley, Ross Gibby, Debbie Gravitte, Peter Jacobson and Mary Beth Peil.

Tickets to each production are $35. All performances are held at the Lucille Lortel Theater. For reservations, call (212) 633-9632. The Drama Dept. is on the web at http://www.dramadept.org.
