News Drama League Awards Will Be Held in May; Nominations Announced in April The Drama League, which is under the leadership of executive director Gabriel Shanks, has announced that the 81st Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony will be held May 15 at noon in the Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway).

Cut-off date for eligibility for the annual awards is April 19. Nominations will be announced April 21 beginning at 11 AM ET at Sardi's. Nominees will be announced in the categories of Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award.

First awarded in 1922 and formalized in 1935, The Drama League Awards are the oldest theatrical honors in America. They are the only major theatregoer awards chosen by audience members — specifically, by the thousands of Drama League members nationwide who attend Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
