Hudson, according to Variety, is in final negotiations to play Sarah Jessica Parker's assistant in "Sex and the City: The Movie," which will begin filming Sept. 19. The film reunites the four stars of the long-running HBO series, which ended in 2004: Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Michael Patrick King is writing and directing the movie, which is being produced by King, co-star Parker, John Melfi and Darren Star.
Hudson picked up a slew of honors — including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award — for playing the role of Effie in the Bill Condon-directed "Dreamgirls," her film debut. Hudson, who was seen in the Actors Fund benefit concert of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, also recently filmed "Winged Creatures."
